Russell Porter Obituary
Russell Jennings Porter Jr. "Wooly Bear," 66, of Fostoria, passed away Friday, Aug. 26, 2022, at his home.
He was born April 12, 1956, in Fostoria, to Russell Jennings and Gertrude Louise (Carr) Porter Sr.
Surviving are his brother, Carl (Kristine) Porter of Fostoria; sister-in-law, Sandra (the late John) Crawford of Fostoria; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister and brother-in law, Mary and Charles Van Pelt.
Russell was an Elmwood High School graduate. He drove a truck for Yarnell Bros Inc., and retired after over 18 years of service. When he wasn't working, Russell enjoyed bowling, playing cornhole, horseshoes, fishing, and spending time with kids. He loved all animals.
He was a sweet, kind, caring, and giving gentleman who was always willing to help people, and didn't know the word "no." Above all, Russell loved his family.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2022, at Mann-Hare-Hoening Funeral Home, 407 N. Countyline St., Fostoria. Russell's funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, 2022, at the funeral home, with Pat Weidner officiating. He will be laid to rest at Weaver Cemetery, Bloom Township privately.
