Roger Dunbar Obituary

Roger E. Dunbar

Roger E. Dunbar, 80, of Fostoria, passed away peacefully Friday, June 21, 2024, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.

He was born April 27, 1944, in Fostoria, to Sherman and Eunice (Roddy) Dunbar. Roger spent his life dedicated to his family and community.

He married Rosalind (Ramsey) Dunbar on Aug. 26, 1965, in Fostoria, and she survives him, along with their four children, Roger E. (Bridget) Dunbar II of Lakeway, Texas, Robin (Nosa) Oviahon of Sylvania, Ryan Dunbar of San Francisco, California, and Roderick Dunbar of Fostoria; five grandchildren, Roger III, Jorden, and Kobe Dunbar and Ariana and Elijah Oviahon; great-granddaughter, Noelle Dunbar; and sister, Diane Keels of Fostoria.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Ronald Dunbar and Carol Gaiton.

A longtime employee of General Dynamics in Lima, Roger was known for his dedication and work ethic. He was a devoted family man, finding great joy in spending time with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. An avid sports enthusiast, Roger loved cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians, and Cleveland Cavaliers. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and was a skilled tinkerer, capable of fixing almost anything.

Roger's commitment to Fostoria extended beyond his personal life. Through the Roger and Rosalind Dunbar Foundation, he helped over 100 Fostoria students pursue their educational dreams over the past 20 years. Roger's generosity and community spirit left a lasting impact on many lives.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2024, at Mann-Hare-Hoening Funeral Home, 407 N. Countyline St., Fostoria. Private family services and burial will take place with Roger being laid to rest at Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria.
