RiChard Lowery Obituary

RIchard John "Bear" Lowery

Richard John Lowery, 65, a lifelong resident of Findlay and known as "Bear" to many, died at Cleveland Clinic Hospital Wednesday, September 3, 2025. Born May 15, 1960, to Arlen and the late Blanche (Brickner) Lowery, he graduated in the class of 1978 from Findlay High School. He never married, but he actively filled the role of a father figure to nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.

Bear was a journeyman electrician and robotics specialist, and retired from Whirlpool Corporation in Findlay and Kuka Group in Toledo. In 2023, he received a liver transplant at Cleveland Clinic. He was a member of ABATE and Harley Owners Group, and he served as a regional leader of Patriot Guard Riders until health issues prevented him from participating fully in those activities.

Bear is survived by his father, Arlen (Susan); sisters, Peggy, Judy (Bucky) Dykes, Sherry, and Suzy; brother, Kenn (Jill); nieces, Lindsay (Scott) Broadwater, Christina (Sean Blueitt) and Tia; nephews, Brennan and Harrison (Alicia) Dykes; Sue's children, Dave (Lisa) and Jeff (Diane) Harding, Beth (Jeff) Lofay and Amy (Chuck) Kramb; three great-nephews; and three great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by niece, Amanda Dykes. He also claimed many "honorary" sons and daughters with friends across the country, especially his best friend, Troy Sumney.

Memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2025, at St. Michael the Archangel Parish, 750 Bright Road, Findlay. Family will begin greeting visitors at 10 a.m. Reception following at the K of C Hall, 701 W. Main Cross St., Findlay.

No flowers, please. If desired, contributions can be made to Patriot Guard Riders, www.patriotguard.org or a charity of your choice.

Yesterday

Bear was a best friend to my son Nick for a decade . As soon as we were i introduced you could tell he was one of the good ones. He had much wisdom to share about lifelong choices and had a wealth of knowledge He loved to share. He is definitely leaving a void in a world that will seem a bit more quiet without him in it . May life give us all great experiences like the ones we experienced with him .my husbands favorite memory is when Bear and my son Nick and my husband went wimdow shopping for cool cars .and Bear bought his cool Bentley. We also enjoyed several bike trips to some amazing hidden spots for food . Until we meet again Bear...thanks for a life we'll lived.
