Richard Lodge Obituary

Richard Eugene "Dick" Lodge

Richard Eugene Lodge went to spend eternity with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022, at Vancrest of Ada.

"Dick" was born Sept. 11, 1933, in Belle Vernon, Wyandot County, to Howard T. and Leona M. (McLaughlin) Lodge. Dick was the valedictorian of his class at Middle Point High School. As a paperboy, he saved enough money to pay his way through International Business college at Fort Wayne, Indiana. After graduation at IBC, he went to work at Ohio Oil. He served his country with U.S. Army. While in Germany, he toured Europe believing Rome his favorite experience. He returned to Marathon Oil where he spent 39 years before retiring as an advanced senior programmer. He also graduated from The University of Findlay.

As sports were his favorite hobby, during the summers he coached Little League, played baseball, and served as an umpire. In winter months, he played basketball and also served as a referee.

Dick is father of a daughter, Dawn Lodge Golden of Colorado; and sons, Greg (Kathy) Lodge of Bowling Green, Ohio, and Brad (Monica) Lodge of Naperville, Illinois.

In 1983, he married Sharon Marshall. The family includes granddaughters, Arica (Mike) Lodge-Hoge, Arin (Lee) Lodge-Marquette; grandson, Calvin Lodge; granddaughters, Abigail and Sophia Lodge; stepson, Tony (Gail) Marshall; stepgranddaughters, Niki (Jason) Marshall-Foreman, Brianne Spallinger, and Haley (Matt) Marshall-Reed; grandsons, Ryan and Logan Marshall and Hayden Marshall; great-grandchildren, Liam and Asher Hoge, Wesley and Decker Marquette; and stepgrandchildren, Cooper and Noelle Foreman, Royce and Jaycee Spallinger, and Emma and Teddy Reed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James A. Lodge; and stepson, Ed Marshall.

After retiring in 1992, Dick became interested in genealogy and received an award for First Families of Ohio from Ohio Historical Society. Many books of family history have been written, reunions attended, and new friends made. Dick served as past president of Zenobia Shrine Clowns, past member of Eastern Star, Masonic Lodge, and Hardin County Historical Society. He is a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and served on the board, financial secretary, and chairman for the committee for youth going to further their education.

Memorial contributions can be made to Northwest Ohio Alzheimer's Association, 1800 North Blanchard St., Suite 110, Findlay, Ohio, 45840, or St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 218 East Sandusky Street, Findlay, Ohio, 45840.
