Ramona Chapman Obituary

Ramona Chapman

Love is not easily put into words, and she was the "Love" of our lives! Jesus welcomed Ramona Chapman into his arms Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023.

She came into this world as the first child of six August 28, 1929, to Bernard and Helen (Battles) Greene in Bluffton, but spent most of her childhood in Findlay. She met the love of her life when she was 15, at the skating rink. Richard Chapman (deceased 2010) said he would be back for her after he finished his four years in the Navy, and he kept his promise.

During their 60-plus years of marriage, they raised four children, Penny (Don) Ward of Ormond Beach, Florida, Kevin Chapman of Tiffin, Becky (Mike) Wedge of Fostoria, and Brian (Terri) Chapman (deceased).

She had a heart of gold. She always encouraged her children to bring home anyone that didn't have a lunch. When she realized we were running out of chairs, we came home to the largest picnic table she could find in our kitchen. More seats, more kids!

She loved garage sales with her sister, Sharon, and always had to buy something. If you didn't it was rude. Spending weekends at their house watching scary movies was a given and it was nothing to find six or seven grandkids fighting for a spot on each side of her.

Sunday Bible stories were learned from the sweet voice of Tennessee Ernie Ford with dinner to follow and everyone had to be there, NO EXCUSES! Mom & Dad were so opposite but blended perfectly. He could sing beautifully, and she couldn't carry a tune; he could dance to anything, and she had two left feet; he was athletic and she couldn't hit or throw a ball to save her life. We would laugh hysterically watching her try; our house was very entertaining!

Her greatest blessings were her grandchildren, Brian (Betty) Vitt- Candiace & Jesse; Matt Noftz (Joan deceased) Paige (Andrew) Mack, Byrnn & baby due in July, Morgan (Brad Smith) Brooke & Cole Noftz; Police Chief (she wanted everyone to know) Gabe (Lana) Wedge- Zaedyn & Bryler; Zeb (Kari) Wedge- Jordyn & Zavier; Mackenzie (Bill) Krzyzak- Krew; Clay Chapman (Kelsie)- Marley; Lauren (Simon) Cholometes- Jax, Kallie, Mack, Stella, Sophia, Loula; Miles (Colleen) Chapman; Caden (Olivia) Chapman; Pierce Chapman. Step grandchildren whom she loved dearly- Fred, Brogan, Freya Jones, Daelyn & Tyson; Raena White; Taylor, Kendal & Chloe Krzyzak.

Receiving her in heaven are siblings, Ben (Marlene), Jack, and Larry Greene, Sharon (Dick) Zink and two half-sisters Bernice & Delores.

She is survived by her sister, Linda (Ed) Edmister whom she considered her daughter and best friend; and many nieces & nephews and her fur-baby Tino!

There will be no services at this time. A Celebration of Life is planned for this Spring. She did not want to be mourned but loved and the idea of people sharing memories of her. We hope to see you there!

They say God only takes the best & he definitely got ours, "Love you more"

I'm so very sorry since moving to Florida we've been out of touch. Mrs. Chapman and Richard were always kind and pleasant to me and always treated me as family. I have the most respect for them and will always hold them all close to my heart

Ms. Mona and Richard were full of life and always such a fun couple to be around. They raised some pretty amazing children. They were welcoming to everyone. I have such fond memories of them both (and Brian and the rest of the family). She made the best spaghetti soup! I know Richard and Brian were there with the twinkle in their eye and their big old bear hugs. Prayers and blessings to the family. Our condolences on your loss. Kelly / Nelly Lentz
