Phyllis Trimmel Obituary
Phyllis Trimmel (nee: Klein), 94, and a lifelong resident of Lorain, was called home by God Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024, to be with her beloved husband of 62 years Andrew Trimmel.
She was born May 19, 1930, in Lorain to her parents Henry and Mildred Klein. Phyllis graduated from Avon High School.
Alongside her husband, Andrew T. Trimmel, she co-owned TNT Body Shop and Trimmel's Greenhouse. Phyllis was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst. She was known for her kind and gentle spirit, bringing warmth and love to everyone she met. Her creativity and passion for crafts brightened the lives of those around her, and her love of flowers was a reflection of her appreciation for the simple, beautiful things in life. Above all, she adored her family and cherished every moment spent with her loved ones.
She is survived by her twin daughters, Sharon Longstaff (Jeff) of Findlay and Karen Hamker (Ray) of Wakeman; her son, Douglas Trimmel of Cincinnati. Phyllis was a cherished grandmother to Heather Hamker, Daniel Hamker (Allison), Douglas Longstaff (Victoria), and Carolyn Oates, (Craig), a beloved great-grandmother to Andrew, Olivia, Jaclyn, Drake, Julia, Zackary, Leah, Lukas, and great-great-grandson Owen.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Andrew T. Trimmel, on Dec. 26, 2011; her siblings, Kenneth Klein, Evelyn Casper, Geraldine Spanos, and Clarabell Bommer; and her parents, Henry and Mildred Klein (nee: Smith).
Visitation for friends will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024, until the time of the funeral at 11 a.m. at Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst. The Rev Frank Kosem, will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Friendship Animal Protective League, 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, Ohio, 44035 or St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst, Ohio, 44001.
