Phyllis E. Johnson

Phyllis E. Johnson, 89, of Findlay died Sunday, June 11, 2023, at Bridge Hospice Care Center.

She was born April 5, 1934, in Flushing, Michigan, the daughter of Eugene Richard and Mildred (Morse) Carpenter. She married Roland "Ron" Johnson on Aug. 22, 1953, and he preceded her in death Sept. 14, 2020, after 67 years of marriage.

Phyllis' survivors include her sons, Michael (Marcy Almaguer) Johnson of Atascadero, California, and Kenneth (Imelda Gorman) Johnson of Houston, Texas; daughter, Lisa Place of Findlay; son-in-law, Terry Hammond of Findlay; grandchildren, Adam, Bridget, Nick, and Elizabeth; and five great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Laurie Hammond; two grandsons, Ian and Andrew; brothers, Tom, Gary, David, Jimmy, and Dick Carpenter; and sister, Signe Cowden.

Phyllis was a member of West Independence Church, Fostoria. She was a homemaker and formerly worked at the 1st Presbyterian Church, Fostoria. Phyllis enjoyed traveling, golf, and being on the water. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at West Independence Church, 22876 U.S. 224, Fostoria. Phyllis' funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church with Pastor Ben Wallick officiating.

Memorial contributions may be directed towards Alzheimer's Association.
