Nell Mock

Mrs. Nell Gwyn Severt Mock, age 86, of West Jefferson, passed away Sunday night, November 30, 2025, at Generations of Ashe.

Mrs. Mock was born in Ashe County on December 1, 1938, to the late Len and Maxie Mash Severt. She worked faithfully for more than 43 years, beginning her career at Hane's and later retiring from Leviton. She was a faithful member of North Beaver Baptist Church, where she loved worship and fellowship. Nell enjoyed fishing, caring for her family, and was always ready to lend a hand to a friend. She was a loving and giving person, known for her kindness and generosity. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Jackson "Jack" Mock; and two brothers, Bill Severt and Ken Severt.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 1:00 PM at North Beaver Baptist Church and Rev. Matthew Tilley officiated. Burial followed in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

The family received friends from 12:00–1:00 PM on Wednesday at the church, one hour prior to the funeral service.

Pallbearers were as follows: Ricky Devall, Ben Hurley, Scott Green, Nathan Roland, Jim Hartley, Jess Mock, and Bruce Mock.

Mrs. Mock is survived by two nieces, Pam Devall (Ricky) of West Jefferson and Robin Wright of West Jefferson; two nephews, David Severt of Walnut Cove and Nick Severt of High Point; and a sister-in-law, Pearl Severt of West Jefferson. Several great-nieces and great-nephews also survive to cherish her memory.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Generation Memory Care Unit, Ashe Memorial Hospital ER, and Ashe Medics for the compassionate care they provided to Nell.
