Mira Houdeshell Obituary

Mira M. Houdeshell

Mira M. (Frost) Houdeshell died at 10:21 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023, at her residence in Findlay.

She was the daughter of Charles and Thelma (Smith) Frost. She married James D. Houdeshell on Feb. 20, 1953, and they had a wonderful 70 years of married life.

They have one son, James P. (Cheri) Houdeshell of Marana, Arizona, two grandchildren, Ethan Houdeshell and Zoe (Xebastian) Aguilar, and one great-granddaughter, Gianna Aguilar. She is also survived by her brother, Philip Frost; and ex-daughter-in-law, Anne (Denny) Bash.

Mira was a 1949 graduate of Findlay High School and 1978 graduate of Findlay College, earning a degree in Music Education. She was very active in college in all music activities as a soloist. Jim and Mira attended many Broadway shows over the years and Mira enjoyed sitting and playing at her piano. Mira was a member of College First Church of God, which is the church where she and Jim were married.

Mira and Jim were very active in The University of Findlay programs over the years, where Jim was a member of the faculty and Mira was a super booster. Mira, Jim, and their son, Jamie, were well-known as antique dealers. She took great pride in their art, glass, and pottery collection.

Mira taught at Findlay City Schools and thoroughly enjoyed her teaching at Glenwood Junior High School, where she won the award as the Outstanding Teacher of the year. She had many students that stopped by their home to express their appreciation for her teaching efforts.

Mira's graveside service was 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023, at Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay, with Dr. Larry McDougle officiating.

Aunt Mira,
I will forever cherish my visits with you and my fond memories of playing in your jungle room as you called it. I remember you teaching me things through song when I was in kindergarten, that I still remember to this day! We would snack on those delicious gooseberry´s on the bush off your back porch until my tummy hurt, oh and the time we went to Uncle Jim´s parents farm and I was able to have some of their fresh grown cherries. That´s one of my all time favorite memories in my Frost family visits to Ohio.Thank you for being such a blessing to my father and taking such good care of him over the years. Until we meet again...you´ll forever be in my heart.
Love,
Holly
