Michael K. Southward

Michael K. Southward, 84, of Forest, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023.

He was born Sept. 24, 1939, in Dearborn, Michigan, to Byron Southward and Genieve (Stephsons) Barts. He married Ruby (Watkins) Benner on Nov. 6, 1991, and she preceded him in death June 14, 2022.

Michael is survived by a daughter, Cyndi (Jeff Ditmas) Southward of Bucyrus; son, Donald (Katie Young) Southward of Marion; stepdaughter, Melanie Wonder of Bascom; stepsons, Jeff (Marlene) Maag of Clyde and Steve Maag of Forest; granddaughter, Samantha Boerger; numerous stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Beverly Coaker; and stepsisters, Emily, Sandra, Patty, and Kathy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; stepson, Tony Maag; and stepsisters, Bonnie and Becky.

Michael graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1957. He was an U.S. Navy veteran. Michael worked for 24 years at Marion Power Shovel and 14 years at Budd Company as a finisher. He was a Mason and enjoyed woodworking, bowling, and horse shoe pitching.

Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, at Bringman Clark Funeral Home. A private military service will be conducted by Upper Sandusky Color Guard at Jackson Center Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors in care of Bringman Clark Funeral Home, 226 E. Wyandot Ave., Upper Sandusky, Ohio, 43351.
