Merle McKeever Obituary
Merle Edward McKeever, 94, of Findlay, and formerly of Fostoria, passed away Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, at Taylor Place, Findlay.
He was born April 8, 1929, in Circleville, Kansas, to Ivan and Vena (Truman) McKeever. He married Donna Frederick on March 17, 1955, in Bellevue, and she preceded him in death Feb. 11, 2018.
Merle is survived by his daughter, Marianne (Gary) Cochran; son, Douglas (Dawn) McKeever; grandchildren, Betsy (Brent) Walton, Douglas (Ashley) McKeever Jr., and Susan (Tim) Davis; and four great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and brother, Leroy McKeever.
Merle moved to Fostoria in 1948 and worked at Allen's and then B & J Hanburg Shops before working at Atlas Crankshaft in Fostoria, retiring in 1989. Merle was a 1947 graduate of Holton High School in Kansas. He was also an U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War. Merle was a member of American Legion & Korean War Veterans Association Chapter 172.
Merle's funeral will be 12 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023, at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, with Chaplain Tony Chwelak officiating. Burial will be at Knollcrest Cemetery, Arcadia, where military honors will be conducted by Fostoria United Veterans. Visitation will be 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials can be made to Korean War Association Chapter 172.

I remember Donna and Merle from the B&J days in the early 50's. I was working at Atlas when Merle hired on and worked on the Gear Line with me. Many of conversation about camping. My wife and I purchased our first camper and joined the Atlas Firelighters. Enjoyed many wonderful week-ends with them. They will be missed.
