Mary Schriner Obituary

Mary Schriner

The gates of Heaven opened wide Saturday, July 8, 2023, for the last survivor of Herman and Adeline (Zoeller) Reinbolt.

Mary (Reinbolt) Schriner was born Feb. 26, 1938, at the family home on St. Route 591, east of New Riegel. She then embarked on 85 years full of adventure and after a short stay at Mercy Hospital in Tiffin, passed away at 12:40 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2023, while in hospice care with Bridge Hospice of Findlay.

Mary graduated as salutatorian of her class of 1956 from New Riegel High School. She was the co-editor of the first New Riegel High School yearbook, the "Hi-Lite," published in 1956.

Upon graduation, she worked at Commercial National Bank in Tiffin, where she met the love of her life, Ron Schriner of Attica. They married Sept. 20, 1958. The couple moved to Arizona, but returned to Tiffin after a few short months. Mary resumed work at Commercial National Bank and worked there until 1985. Mary then opened a service business which she managed for five years before selling it. She returned to banking with National City Bank (now PNC) where she worked part-time for 10 years until her retirement. After more than 58 years of marriage, Ron preceded Mary in death exactly six years earlier on July 8, 2017.

Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and great friend to many. She is survived by her children, Bob (Arlene "Ollie") Schriner of Findlay, Sue (Mike) Schriner of Tiffin, Dan (Kim) Schriner of Maumee, and Ken (Janice) Schriner of Ottawa; seven grandsons, Mike (Casey) of Canal Winchester, Andy (Charlotte) of Truckee, California, Doug of New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, Scott of Cincinnati, Derek and Jared of Maumee, and Jake of Cleveland; seven granddaughters, Jen of Fostoria, Beth (Tim) of Aurora, Colorado, Rebecca of Shakopee, Minnesota, Sara and Jessi (Jacob) of Ottawa, Marci of Findlay, and Danielle of Maumee; eight great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Sophie, Liam, Cash, Everlee, Brantlee, Georgia, and Lydia; and "adopted daughter," Hilde from Norway.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Art; and sisters, Catherine Pinkston and Martha Schriner.

Mary loved to travel. She and Ron were able to visit all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, and Norway. For more than 25 years, their Christmas gift to their family was to find and rent large homes that served as the base for extended family vacations. In addition, Mary was able to enjoy many of the trips organized by the Allen Eiry Center in Tiffin.

Even more than traveling, Mary loved to play cards. She learned her skills at a young age and was an active member of many pinochle and euchre card flights over the years. She was always ready for a game of euchre and kids/grandkids alike loved to challenge her for the championship title. Needless to say, she seldom lost those battles.

Through the years, Mary was an active member of St. Mary Church. Most recently, she served on the funeral committee and helped count the weekly church offerings. Outside of church, she served as a teacher's aide at St. Mary's School, an assistant Girl Scout leader, and in the St. Francis Auxiliary.

Mary's funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2023, at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Matthew Rader officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation for friends and family will be 4-7 p.m. Friday July 14, 2023, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio, 44883, (419) 447-2424.

In lieu of flowers and other gifts, the Schriner family asks you to consider making a memorial donation to St. Mary Catholic Church in Tiffin or charity of your choice. You may also contribute to the Mercy Hospital Ron and Mary Schriner fund to be established in honor of the great care Mary and Ron received there over the years.

To The Family of Mary Schriner
I was so very sorry to read of the loss of Mary. I met her many years ago as I was good friends of her sister Kate. I was so happy to " meet up" with her at Kates granddaughters wedding . She looked wonderful and we gave each other a hug . She was such a kind caring soul that was always looking for whatever was best for Kate. I know she will be missed. My deepest sympathy to all family and friends. Remembering you all in prayer
Sincerely with love
Pat Tracy
