Mary Kathryn "Kay" Lichak

Mary Kathryn "Kay" Lichak (née Covington), 77, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 15, 2025, in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Born December 18, 1947, in Boardman, Ohio, Kay was the daughter of Atty. Clarence A. Jr. and Mary Ellen (née Moore) Covington. She was a proud graduate of Boardman High School, Class of 1966.

Kay's warmth and vibrant spirit touched everyone she met. Known for her radiant smile and gracious demeanor, she never met a stranger. Her kindness and ability to listen made her a cherished presence in every room she entered. For those who knew her well, Kay was anything but plain-colorful barely does her justice.

She found great joy in spending time with her family. Kay is survived by her two sons, Timothy Lichak and his wife Kristina, along with their daughter Amelia; and Lt. Col. Mark Lichak and his wife, Jennifer, along with their daughters, Amara, Lilliana, Mya, and Elena. Her five granddaughters were the light of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

Kay is also survived by her sister, Connie Ward and brother, Allen Covington.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Thomas "Tom" Lichak; her parents; and her brother, Richard M. Covington.

In addition to being a devoted mother and grandmother, Kay gave generously of her time to causes close to her heart. She volunteered at the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts (MCPA) in Findlay and served as a poll worker during local elections-roles that reflected both her love for the arts and civic engagement. When not volunteering or enjoying time with family, Kay loved to travel.

Memorial Service celebrating Kay's life will be from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, 205 W. Sandusky St, in Findlay.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to United Service Organizations (USO) or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
