Mary M. Benjamin

Mary M. Benjamin, 93, of Findlay, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023, at Primrose Retirement Center, Findlay.

She was born Dec. 4, 1929, on the family farm in Van Buren, to Clarence A. and Gladys (Snyder) Copus.

Mary was a graduate of Van Buren High School in 1947. After high school, Mary married her first husband, Donald D. Hulbert.

Mary was a lifelong learner with a voracious appetite for reading. She fully devoted herself to the topic at hand, be it morel mushroom hunting in Mesick, Michigan, cooking comfort food, or reading historical fiction. She was well-traveled and loved to learn about local history. She was the conduit for information in her family making sure that everyone stayed in touch and well-informed.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Twila Hulbert of Arizona and Donna (Michael) Lunn of New Mexico; son, David (Pamela) Hulbert of Oregon; three grandsons, Jason Spence of Findlay, Jeremy (Jill) Spence of Findlay, and Kurt (Mary) James of Jenera; seven great-grandchildren and one on the way; twin brother, John E. Copus of Findlay; and sister, Ruth Kettlewell of Findlay.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Donald; brother, Sam Copus; and second husband, Floyd "Squirt" Benjamin.

Honoring Mary's wishes, there will be no visitation.

Mary's graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, at Maple Grove Cemetery, 1120 W. Main Cross St., Findlay, Ohio, 45840.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Hancock County Public Library, 206 Broadway St., Findlay, Ohio, 45840.
