Marlene Y. Van Renterghem

Marlene Y. Van Renterghem, 88, of Findlay, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

She was born in Detroit, Michigan, to William G. and Yvonne E. (Ouellette) Hudson.

Marlene married Gerald Donald Van Renterghem on July 4, 1952, and he survives along with four children, Leslie (Ron) Hunker of Tiffin, Eric (Jane) Van Renterghem of Mt. Cory, and Brad (Melanie) Van Renterghem and Charles (Johanna) Van Renterghem, both of North Baltimore; 14 grandchildren, Cara (Jason) Clarkson, Brice Kauffman, Patrick Smith, Mindy (Mitch) Distel, Katie (Clay) Hoffman, Derek (Heather) Hunker, Craig Van Renterghem, Brynn (Andi) Baumgartner, Kevin (Monique) Van Renterghem, Liz (Ed) Mills, William Van Renterghem, Geoff Van Renterghem, Hudson Van Renterghem, and Harrison Van Renterghem; 11 great-grandchildren, Rylan, Jacob, Adalyn, Kelsi, Lynsey, Ryley, Clair, Griffin, Zoey, Arlo, and Gordon; two brothers, Ronald (Arlene) Hudson and Charles (Joan) Hudson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, William Hudson; and sisters, Theresa Waldecker, Shirley DeGraaf, June O'Donnell, and Sharon Priebe.

Marlene assisted her husband in managing the Cheshyre House in Findlay for many years. She was also a dedicated CASA worker for over 10 years. Marlene was an avid reader, wonderful interior decorator, enjoyed gardening, and was past President of Findlay Garden Club. She also enjoyed Crewel Work (Embroidery) and was an avid nature lover who enjoyed wildlife, especially bird watching. Marlene was a very outgoing, kind, and gentle person who had never met a stranger.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2024, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, downtown. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Marlene to CASA of Hancock County, 308 Dorney Plaza #2, Findlay, Ohio, 45840.
