Marian Marquette Obituary

Marian T. (Laube) Marquette

Marian T. (Laube) Marquette, 90, of Rossford, passed away Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022, at Maumee Pointe Assisted Living.

She was born Feb. 15, 1932, in Findlay, to Norbert and Nora (Dindall) Laube. Marian was a graduate of Findlay High School where she was a member of "The Big 19" which then became life-long friends. Marian then attended Bowling Green State University after which she was hired by Marathon Oil in Findlay where she met the love of her life, Leroy "Cot" Marquette. They were married Aug. 30, 1952, and celebrated 64 years of marriage before his death in 2016. Their loving relationship and marriage was an example to all.

In support of her husband's coaching profession, they moved to Rossford in 1960 where Marian initiated a Children's Conservation League (CCL) group which was a start to many life-long friendships. After retirement from University of Toledo as an Administrative Assistant in the Physics and Astronomy Department, they enjoyed traveling. Over the winter months, there were annual trips to Myrtle Beach with friends where they enjoyed golf, card games, shopping, and laughter. In the spring, they enjoyed their time share in Maggie Valley, North Carolina, with her siblings and friends.

Over the years, Marian continued to enjoy bridge club, sewing for family, and her golf league at Valley Wood Country Club. The "Cherry Lane" family was a part of their everyday life that was a much-treasured part of their family life. Marian will be most remembered for her sweet and kind spirit which was evident in her smile and contagious laugh to all who knew her. She had a knack of decorating, loved shopping trips, and hosting parties for any occasion for family and friends.

First and foremost, Marian was a devout Catholic. Her faith and love of the Lord was the best gift she gave to her children and grandchildren. She was our prayer warrior who provided support over the many years of life's ups and downs who will be deeply missed. Marian was an active parishioner at All Saints Catholic Church where she served on the Building Committee for the new church.

Marian is survived by two daughters, Terri Reichert and Sue Bigaila; two sons, Greg (Jackie) and Jim (Shannon) Marquette; 17 grandchildren, Brad (Connie) Reichert, Lindsay Reeman, Katie (Steve) Raszka, Jennifer (Brian) Lindsay, Joe (Cody) Bigaila, Janie (Josh) Pheils, Lee (Arin) Marquette, Mary Bigaila, Allison (Steve) Switzer, Julia (Joe) Kenny, Matthew (Kaylyn) Marquette, Jay Marquette, Maddy Marquette, Patrick Marquette, Michael (Brittany) Downing, Corey Downing, and Zach Downing; 19 great-grandchildren with three on the way; and four sisters-in-law, Pat, Gloria, Pat, and Louise Laube, and Ginny Koenig.

The widow of Leroy "Cot" Marquette, she was also preceded in death by sons-in-law, Jim Reichert and Tony Bigaila; siblings, Bud, Tom, Jerry (Biz), John, Jim, and Bob Laube, Dottie (Jack) Coontz, Sue (Joe) Vajentic, and infant twin sister, Mariam; and brother-in-law, Ron (Phyllis) Marquette.

Thank you to Elara Hospice Care and especially to her girls and guys at both Waterford and Maumee Pointe for their love and care of our mother. She loved you too.

Friends will be received 3-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 2022, at Sujkowski-Walker Funeral Home, Rossford. Visitation will continue at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022, at All Saints Catholic Church, 628 Lime City Rd., Rossford, where funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Ft. Terri, Sue, Greg, & Jimmy,

Your mom and dad were so special to Jerry and me. Marian's kindness and graciousness were always there when we visited them both at their home. I have very fond memories of them both. The last few years have been tough for the Marquette family, and my prayers are with you all.
