Marcia Arnold Obituary

Marcia Ann Arnold

Marcia Ann (Gephart) Arnold passed away peacefully July 20, 2022, at Autumn Court Nursing Home, Ottawa, from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Lou Gehrig's Disease. She was born to the late Elizabeth "Betty" and Robert "Bob" Gephart on March 6, 1958. Her husband, Alex Arnold, survives along with her stepchildren, Nelson, Nicholas, and Griffin. Marcia and her first husband, Max Robinson divorced. She was loved unconditionally by her five brothers, Mike (Melissa), Ron (Karen), Mark (Cheryl), Jeff, and Tim (Kristina), who all survive. Marcia was especially loved by her sister-in-law, Melissa (Mires) Gephart, who took the lead in caring for her throughout the challenging months of her extended illness. Tom Wood, husband of Marcia's beloved cousin Tina, will officiate at a memorial service that will take place later.

Marcia performed at Fort Findlay Playhouse in "Snow White" and in "Stop the World I Want to Get Off." Her performances inspired her brother, Ron, to pursue a career in theater. Soon after they graduated from Findlay High School in 1976, Marcia shared an apartment above the Rocking U with her close friend, Kim Creighton Methena. They rode their bicycles to the theater and to work and, according to Kim, felt so "grown up."

Although it was hard for her to leave her dogs or quilting, she loved seeing the world through the windshield of Alex's 18-wheeler or riding on the back of his motorcycle. Family and friends treasure her letters from the road. Marcia played the guitar and composed songs in her buoyant early years. After her sister-in-law Karen played some hymns for her by way of Facetime from Memphis, Marcia requested "Can't You See" by the Marshall Tucker Band, "I Can Only Imagine" by Mercy Me, and some blues music.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the many health care providers who provided for Marcia's care throughout her extended illness. We especially extend our grateful appreciation to Autumn Court in Ottawa, Elara Hospice, and their entire staff of caregivers that supported Marcia through her final journey on earth.

All services will be private. Arrangements are being handled by COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay.

The family honors Marcia and their heroic cousin the Reverend William Croy, Jr. by requesting donations to ALS Association of Central and Southern Ohio, 1170 Old Henderson Road Suite 221, Columbus, Ohio, 43220, or online at https://www.als.org/central-southern-ohio.
