Lonnie Joe Buess

Lonnie Joe Buess, 77, of Upper Sandusky and formerly of Carey, passed away at home Sunday, May 25, 2025.

Joe was born April 28, 1948, to Farrell and Clara (Clinger) Buess, and they preceded him in death. He was once married to Carol Trausch.

Joe is survived by his daughter, Angela (Israel) Swavel of Upper Sandusky; son, James Buess; two granddaughters, Claire Swavel of Bucyrus and Caitlin Swavel of Upper Sandusky; one great-grandson on the way, Coleson; sisters-in-law, Barbara Buess of Wharton and Sylvia Buess of Columbus; and many nieces and nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Richard, Norman, and Ronald Buess; and his sister, Margie Conley.

Joe graduated from Riverdale High School in 1966, and he served in the U.S. Army. Joe worked at Atlas Crank Shaft in Fostoria until his retirement. Joe then went on to work at Cooper Tire as a security guard and worked at Wayside Golf Course in retirement.

For hobbies, Joe enjoyed playing golf, going bowling, drinking coffee, spending time with his neighbors, and following the Guardians, Browns, and Buckeyes. Joe loved his cat, Ollie, and especially loved spending time with his granddaughters and attending all their activities over the years.

Funeral service for Lonnie Joe Buess will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2025, at Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, and officiated by Pastor Steve Sturgeon. Visitation will be two hours prior to service.

Memorial contribu-tions may be made to Flag City Honor Flight and can be sent to Lucas-Batton, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
