Lionel Dale "Mouse" Mason

Lionel "Mouse" Dale Mason, 86, of Fostoria, passed away Monday, Nov. 11, 2024, at his home. He was born Nov. 10, 1938, in Fremont to Richard L. & Bonnie M. (Williams) Mason. He married Kathryn Davis on July 29, 1961 in Fremont.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Mason of Fostoria; children, Mark (Mary) Mason of Toledo, Lori (Steve) Angles of Fostoria, Marci (Jack Peters) Mason of Attica, Michael Allen Mason of Fostoria and Shawn Szakovits; siblings, James (Joan) Mason of Port Clinton, Cynthia (Jerry) Bowman of Lebanon, Gary (Diana) Mason of Fostoria, Sheila Michael of Fremont and Marda Mason of Sycamore; grandchildren, Sayge and Celina Mason, Sirena Kitz, Samantha Denihan, Justin, Brittany, Matt and Nick Angles; and great-grandchildren, Maverick, James, Kenyon and Kennedie.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Bob Michael.

Lionel was a graduate of Fremont Ross High School and a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, and F.O.P. Mouse. Lionel retired as Chief of the Fostoria Police Department. He was also the Chief at Carroll Twp. and worked for Fremont, Gibsonburg and Bloomdale police departments. Lionel was an instructor for the Police Academy course at Terra Community College. He enjoyed roller skating, camping, fishing and doing concrete work.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15, 2024, at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, Ohio with the Rev. Duane Kemerley officiating. Burial will be at Knollcrest Cemetery, Arcadia. Visitation will be from 6-8- p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024, and one hour prior to services Friday, both at the funeral home.
