Leta Curth Obituary

Leta A. Curth

Leta A. Curth, 88, of Toledo and formerly of Findlay, passed away Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023. She was a very loving, compassionate, faithful, and strong-willed woman.

She was born Aug. 17, 1935, in Upper Sandusky, to John W. and Leta E. (Bolish) Walton. Leta married Paul E. Curth on Aug. 30, 1958, and he preceded her in death Feb. 24, 2007.

Leta is survived by two sons, Paul E. (Karen) Curth Jr. of Kiawah Island, South Carolina, and Kevin D. (Traci) Curth of Sylvania; grandchildren, Michelle (Bryan) Galloway, Brian (Mia) Curth, Olivia Curth, and Emma Curth; and two great-grandchildren, Ava and Elizabeth Galloway.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Joesph W., John W., James W., Justin W., and Izack W. Walton; and four sisters, Marjorie Windau, Jeanette Walton, Anita Harshman, and Ann Mangett.

Leta was the former activity director at Marlesta Nursing Home for several years. At the time of her passing, she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sylvania. Prior to moving to Toledo, Leta was active at St. Michael the Archangel Parish, where she served as a Eucharistic minister, President of the Rosary Society, chairman of the Christmas Bazaar, and was active in the Ministry of Praise.

She enjoyed crocheting, antiques, and her pets, especially her many dogs. Most of all, Leta treasured spending time with her family. Leta was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt who devoted herself to her family and was always there when needed, with a phone call or warm embrace, despite distance from some of her family. Leta cared deeply and showed her love in so many ways, including never forgetting a birthday.

Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, 2024, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 750 Bright Road, Findlay. Burial will follow at the parish cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Leta to St. Michael's School or American Diabetes Association.

My Aunt Leta was one of the sweetest and sincere people I have ever had the pleasure knowing. She always had kind words spoken in such a heartfelt manner. My family memories include her in so many ways....too many to count! One of my fondest memories was how she hosted my bridal shower in her home. She went through years of pictures of me growing up and set up a slide projection show in her living room. It was sort of like "This is your life....Judy Kay". She spent a lot of time planning that party for me, and it was so appreciated.
I also remember her taking myself, my three brother's, and my three sister's, for a slumber party at her house. That was nine kids (including Paul and Kevin) overnight! She introduced us to corndogs. I had never had a corndog before and as a kid, I thought it was the greatest!
Not only was she kind to people, but she shared her love with various pets in her life. She loved her four-legged companions and they loved her too. She was so caring and warm. She will be sadly missed...but never forgotten.
