Leon Michael Nidek

Leon Michael "Mike" Nidek passed away at 4:03 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022.

He was born Sept. 14, 1942, in Findlay, to the late Sylvester and Mary Nidek (NAJDEK). He married the love of his life, Karen Sue Lammers, on May 19, 1963, and she preceded him in death just 10 days earlier on Nov. 3, 2022.

Mike is survived by his daughter, Kristina (John) Friese of Findlay; and sister, Judy (Jack) Adams.

His son, Michael James, preceded him in death on July 29, 2012, at the age of 47.

Mike attended Findlay City Schools. He then joined U.S. Navy, serving aboard the USS AEOLUS out of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, for four years. Mike retired from Cooper Tire. He and Karen were co-owners of NAJDEKS Deer Processing, a great sausage maker, a homebrewer and wine maker, giving much of his products to friends, neighbors, and family. He was an avid collector of Findlay memorabilia and Old Dutch bottles. He was very proud of his Polish roots by preparing traditional Polish meals on holidays and keeping the Polish language alive. Mike's greatest joy was listening to doo-wop and spending time with his three grandsons, Michael, Nathan, and Sam.
