Laura R. Rigel

Laura R. Rigel, 54, of Leipsic, passed away at 8:17 a.m. Sunday, May 5, 2024, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.

She was born Nov. 17, 1969, in Lima, to Kenneth and Marilyn (Thomas) Cupp. She married Chad Rigel on March 5, 1997, and he survives in Leipsic.

Laura is also survived by three daughters, Grace Rigel, Claire (Reese Mangas) Rigel, and Ella Rigel, all of Leipsic; brother, Keith (Gwen) Cupp of Leipsic; sister, Ann Daugherty of Winchester, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Ryan M. Cupp.

Laura was a beloved kindergarten teacher for Leipsic Local School. She loved her students and aides as her own. She also worked as a licensed cosmetologist. Laura was a loving mother who devoted her entire life to her family and friends. She supported her girls 100 percent in all that they accomplished. She never knew a stranger and was called "Momma Laura" by many non-biological children. Laura was a staple in the community and will be greatly missed.

Laura's funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Leipsic High School Gymnasium with Pastor Jimmy Fry officiating. Burial will follow at Center Cemetery, Leipsic. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Leipsic, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at the school.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorial donations may be made to Leipsic Athletic Boosters for the track.
