Larry N. Richards
Larry N. Richards, 82, of Findlay, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Bridge Hospice Care Center.
Larry was born to Ned and Ardinell Richards October 11, 1942, in Kenton and graduated from Kenton High School in 1961. He served in the United States Navy from October 1961 to September 1963 aboard the aircraft carrier USS Wasp, homeported in Boston, Massachusetts, and assigned to helicopter anti-submarine warfare squadron HS-11, which was shore-based at Quonset Point Naval Air Station in Rhode Island. Upon discharge, he obtained an associate degree from International Business College in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
He married the love of his life, Ruth Ann Garmon December 18, 1965, at Walnut Grove EUB church just north of Kenton and began a 30-year career with Marathon Oil Company in June of 1966, which included seven years at Marathon's Denver Research Center in Littleton, Colorado. Larry continued his education in night school, obtaining his bachelor's degree from Tiffin University in 1975.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years; his two sons, Jeffrey S. (Susan) Richards of Englewood and Chad (Janna) of Findlay. Larry took great comfort in knowing that both of his boys knew the Lord Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Also surviving is his sister, Lynn (Mike) Boyle of Kenton; one niece, Mindy; and one nephew, Marc; five grandchildren, Alex, Kirsten, Shawn, and David; and special grandson, happy Jack; plus one great-grandchild, Carmyn.
Larry was raised in the Methodist church in Kenton and assumed all churches were about the same, unaware of the importance of church doctrine at the time. He and Ruth Ann left the Methodist denomination on Christmas Day of 2005 and shortly thereafter joined Findlay E-Free Church, now known as Living Hope Church. The subsequent years were marked by strong Christian growth from the bold preaching of God's word from the pulpit and through membership in OWLS Sunday school class. OWLS is an acronym for Older, Wiser, Loving Servants, and trust me, the OWLS live up to their moniker. "As I write this, I am still among the living, and I have just one piece of advice from the perspective of an 82-year-old: CAREFULLY select a Bible-based church with solid doctrine, and don't be afraid to leave your comfort zone." ~Larry
