Kathryn Ann "Kathy" Streacker

Kathryn A. "Kathy" Streacker, 68, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023, in Salem, Massachusetts, after a three-year battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her numerous friends who came to visit and comfort her.

She was known as the "heart of Curtis Street," where she resided since the early 1990s. Kathy was a dog lover and beloved by many in Salem's "Derby Street neighborhood." She cared for hundreds of dogs in the Salem area in her over 30 years there, developing life-long friendships with a variety of people who shared her love of dogs. Kathy possessed the ability to talk with anyone and make friends easily. She was a source of laughter and a true friend to many who met her.

Kathy was born Dec. 13, 1951, in Tiffin, to Earl and Mary Streacker, she was the oldest daughter of five children.

She is survived by Earl J. (Bea) Streacker, Tom (Joanne) Streacker of Findlay, and Joann Streacker-Walters of Huron; and nieces and nephews.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; and younger sister, Helen Burrell.

Kathy graduated from Findlay High School and Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where she earned a bachelor's degree in education. She taught briefly at St. Michael's grade school after college, but followed her dream, which eventually took her to Salem, Massachusetts.

Memorial Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 20, 2023, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Downtown Chapel on West Main Cross St. in Findlay. A reception at the Knights of Columbus hall will immediately follow the service.
