John Schimmoeller Obituary

John Lee Schimmoeller

John Lee Schimmoeller, 61, of Rawson, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2025. He was born in Bluffton, Ohio, on February 25, 1964, to Roger and Alberta (Miller) Schimmoeller. After the passing of his father, Roger, John's mother later married Loren Cramer, who lovingly raised John and his siblings as his own.

On October 15, 1988, John married Bonnie Bower, who survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Lauren Marie Schimmoeller (Chris Brian) of Waynesville, Ohio; his granddaughter, Ava Brian; and his siblings, Virginia (Chris) Hauser, Debra (Richard) Feller, Jeffrey (Pam)Schimmoeller and Amy (Rodney) Barnhisel.

John was a 1982 graduate of Liberty-Benton High School. After graduation, he worked at Bob Woodruff's Marathon, Hisan/Sanoh, and The Hancock Gas Company. Following completion of the Ohio Peace Officer Training program, he found his true calling at the Findlay Police Department, where he faithfully served as a patrolman and court officer beginning in 1995. During his career, John was honored with the Officer of the Year Award and served as a SWAT Team Sniper.

He was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Police and enjoyed working on cars, camping with his family, farming, and motorsports.

Visitation will be held from 2:00–8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 15, 2025, at Gateway Church, 9555 County Road 9, Findlay, Ohio. A funeral service will follow at the church at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, with Pastor Ed Grable officiating. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John's name to the Hancock County 4-H, 7868 County Road 140, Findlay, Ohio 45840 or to the Humane Society & SPCA of Hancock County, 4550 Fostoria Avenue, Findlay, Ohio 45840.
