John Post Obituary

John Phillip Post

John Phillip Post, 90, of Findlay, passed away early in the morning Friday, Sept. 27, 2024, at The Heritage. He was born June 14, 1934, in West Millgrove, to the late Harry and Madonna (Ankney) Post. He married Marilyn E. Saltz on June 25, 1961 and she preceded him in death July 1, 2015.

John is survived by his son, Doug (Denise) Post; grandchildren: Caitlin Post, Corbin Post and Carly (David) Fugate; a sister, Marge Green; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by his sisters, Patricia Crawfis and Mary Green-Roose; stepsisters, Anna Rose Nichols, Donna Youngston and Ginny Foltz; and a stepbrother, Dick Lewis.

John was a graduate of Fostoria High School and proudly served in the United States Army. Following his service, he attended barber school and Bluffton College, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration. He worked for Marathon Oil Company for over 25 years, retiring in 1989.

John was a very active person - exercising daily throughout his life. He loved to play all sports - especially golf and tennis. John was the ping pong champion while in college and played in a tennis league until he was 85 years old. He loved music, old movies, westerns, and movie musicals. He attended St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Findlay where he faithfully attended for over 50 years. He enjoyed spending time at "beautiful" Houghton Lake with his family and loved to read.

Visitation for John will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 W. Sandusky Street, Findlay, Ohio, 45480. Additional visitation will be 10 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2024, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Knollcrest Memory Gardens, Arcadia.

In lieu of flowers, and reflecting his life-long love of tennis, memorial contributions may be shared with Findlay YMCA Youth Tennis Programming, 300 E. Lincoln Street, Findlay, Ohio, 45840.

Online condolences may be shared with his family at coldrencrates.com.
