John Pinski Obituary

John William Pinski

John William Pinski Jr., 59, of Findlay, passed away Monday, October 6, 2025, while on a golf trip with some of his closest friends in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born in Ashland, October 8, 1965, to the late John "Bill" Pinski Sr. and Julia Mae Pinski, who survive in Ashland.

John was a graduate of Ashland High School and graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, in August 1988. After college, John relocated to Findlay and began his public accounting career at Pry CPA Services, Inc. in the summer of 1988. On July 25, 1992, he married his wife, Erin (Killian) Pinski and they were blessed with Emily and Matt in the years that followed. He was a co-founding member of Coward, Pinski and Associates, LLC in 2002 with his partner, Greg Coward. He was so very proud of the firm that he, Greg, and all the talented and dedicated people at the firm had built. He was a tireless advocate for his clients and took great pride in assisting them with their accounting and tax needs.

John was also an active golf member at Findlay Country Club and a member of the Finance Committee. John's community volunteerism also included the City of Findlay's Revolving Loan Fund, Home Builders Association, CentraComm Communications Management Committee, and the City of Findlay Income Tax Review Board. He was a past Treasurer of Black Swamp Area Council, Scouting America, and a past member of Rotary Club of Findlay.

When it was not tax season, John could often be found on the golf course or watching his favorite sporting events. John especially loved spending summers at their family's lake house in Devils Lake, Michigan, where he and Erin developed lasting friendships with their lake neighbors.

Along with his beloved wife, Erin, John is survived by his daughter, Emily Pinski (Taylor Zimmerman) of Fort Wayne, Indiana; his son, Matthew Pinski of Findlay; his mother, Julia Pinski; his sister, Jo Ann Robertson (Kurt Canfield); and his father-in-law, William Killian.

He was preceded in death by his father, John William "Bill" Pinski Sr.; his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Killian; and his brother-in-law, Brian Killian.

Private funeral services for family will be Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME in Findlay, with burial at Maple Grove Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Findlay Country Club.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to The Coward, Pinski & Associates Accounting Scholarship Fund, care of Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation, 101 W. Sandusky St., Suite 207, Findlay, OH 45840. Funeral services will be at a later date, at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home in Findlay. The family will share details once they are confirmed.

it's really hard to say....back in the day, PingPong in the garage/ Beer pong. He always won it!
John was always the encyclopedia of sports, even in grade school.
We had radio broadcast every Monday at Lincoln School. He had sports, and I had the weather!

John was such a wonderful man to know. As our accountant, he helped us to navigate the many complex issues involved with annual tax submissions. But he always took time to know us on a personal level and that was always special to us. He was also proud of his family and shared stories of his life with his wife and his two children. He always had a smile on his face and he had a little giggle that always made us smile and showed us how happy he was.
We will miss John's professional skills, and above all, his love for friends and family.

My sincerest condolences to the entire family. I first met John in 1993 in Hancock Leadership and maintained a friendship since that time. He was a true professional, a gentleman, and a community steward. You all should be proud of his legacy. I am proud to have called him a friend.
