John Kloepfer Obituary

John "Nate" Kloepfer

John "Nate" Kloepfer, 85, of rural Carey, passed away at 5:25 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2022, at ProMedica Toledo Hospital with family by his side.

Nate was born Jan. 13, 1937, the son of Fred and Jennie (Beck) Kloepfer. He married Linda Gardner on Aug. 9, 1958, at Grace United Methodist Church, Carey. Linda survives in their home near Carey. The two of them enjoyed taking drives throughout the countryside to check out everyone's crops and in later years jumping on the golf cart to visit their nearby family.

Nate graduated from Carey High School in 1955. He served his country in U.S. Army National Guard. He worked for 10 years at Hancor in Findlay, but everyone knew Nate as a farmer. He and Linda ran Kloepfer Farms for years, which included raising chickens.

Nate was a member of Findlay Moose and was affiliated with Grace United Methodist Church.

His 11 children, 43 grandchildren, and 65 great-grandchildren kept him very busy, especially when it came to their sports. Nate loved watching them compete. Nate was an avid fan of the Vanlue Wildcats as well as New York Yankees, Detroit Lions, and Ohio State Buckeyes.

He will be dearly missed by his 11 children, Kathy (Mike) Wisner of Alvada, Sherry (Robert) Brooks of Vanlue, Cindy (Kenneth) Walerius of Vanlue, John (Sally) Kloepfer of Vanlue, Jeff Kloepfer of Vanlue, Jim (Mary) Kloepfer of Westerville, Jerry (Traci) Kloepfer of Vanlue, Joel (Joezette) Kloepfer of Vanlue, Jason (Kelli) Kloepfer of Vanlue, Jeremy (Amy) Kloepfer of Vanlue, and Jennifer Kloepfer of Findlay. His 43 grandchildren and 65 great-grandchildren knew him as "Dandy." He is also survived by six siblings, Freddie (Sue) Kloepfer of Michigan, Ethel Heilman of Marion, Bob Kloepfer of Vanlue, Roger (Sharon) Kloepfer of Carey, Lucy (Keith) Pahl of Carey, and Chris (Brett) Greer of Michigan.

Nate was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Raymond Kloepfer; a granddaughter; two sisters in-law, Norma Jean Kloepfer and Susan Kloepfer; and brother in-law, Ronald Heilman.

Nate's funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, 2022, at Grace United Methodist Church, Carey, with Pastor Cynthia Morrison and Pastor Loran Miracle co-officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Bloom Cemetery near Vanlue.

Friends will be received 2-8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, 2022, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, and 10-11 a.m. Monday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Vanlue Community Organization or Vanlue Athletic Booster and sent to the funeral home.

Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home is honored to serve Nate's family. Online condolences may be expressed to the family via www.StombaughBatton.com.
