Joanne Stacy Obituary

Joanne Stacy

Joanne Stacy, 90, of Findlay, passed away Sunday, Jan. 15, 2023, peacefully in the morning surrounded by her family.

Joanne was born Feb. 14, 1932, to the late Aloysius "Loyse" and Gail (Stough) Horner of Findlay. She grew up with her sisters, Thelma (Ralph) Slagel, Martha (Howard) Marks, and Mary Lou (Don) Flanagan. She is survived by Mary Lou.

She was the youngest daughter and graduated from Van Buren High School in 1950. During high school, she was a member of the Glee Club and Newspaper Staff.

She married her high school sweetheart, Richard J. Stacy of Findlay on June 9, 1951, and he preceded her in death April 13, 2017. Richard and Joanne were married for 65 wonderful years. Together, they raised three children, Michael (Debra) Stacy of Van Buren, Linda (Tim) Carles of Van Buren, and Lisa (David) Wolfe-Erickson of Findlay. In 1955, Richard and Joanne founded Stacy Insurance Agency. Their commitment, dedication, and long sacrificed hours grew their business from a side garage on North Main Street in Findlay to one of the largest independent insurance agencies in northwest Ohio. They recently celebrated 73 years of business in the community. Joanne treated each customer like family. She would always go that extra mile for each client until they were satisfied.

Joanne served as Vice President of The Caribbean Condominium Association in Daytona Beach Shores, Florida, most of the 1990s. She was a member of Findlay Independent Insurance Agents, Findlay Jaycees, Red Hat Society, and Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish and Findlay Country Club. After retiring in 2003, you could find her taking care of family. Joanne loved her grandchildren and enjoyed supporting all of their interests wherever that might take her. Her grandchildren are Stacey (Donnie) Foltz of Van Buren, Jill (Dave) Caldwell of Hartville, Matthew (Lynae) Stacy of McComb, Errol and Andrew Wolfe of Findlay, and Sadie and Bradyn Erickson of Findlay. Her great-grandchildren are Hunter and Carson Foltz of Van Buren, David, Evelynn, and Archer Caldwell of Hartville, and Quinn and Emry Stacy of McComb.

Joanne was known as "JoJo" to her grandchildren who loved her dearly. She was outgoing, caring, selfless, and loved by all her family and friends. Her family will continue to honor all the values she stood for throughout her 90 years.

Mass will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2023, at St. Michael the Archangel, 750 Bright Road, Findlay, Ohio, 45840, followed by a casual celebration of life at Fern Cafe, 452 East Sandusky Street, Findlay, Ohio, 45840.

Linda, Tim, Stacy, Mike and the rest of the family,
I am so sorry to hear of Joanne's passing. We go back a lot of years in the insurance business and often think of your dad and mom fighting for the agency side of the business. They were appreciated by many agents!
You are in my thoughts at this time...hugs!
