Joan R. Greer

Joan R. Greer, 79, of Findlay, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2025. Born in Beckley, West Virginia, December 28, 1945, to William and Ruth (Thurmond) Thomason. Her parents preceded her in death. Joan married Burl Greer June 14, 1964, and he survives along with a daughter, Rachelle Greer of Virginia Beach, Virginia. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Danni Jo (Jeremy) Balboa, Brittany (Jay) Grossman, and Nathan Myers; six great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Brett, Haidyn, Baileigh, Everlee, and Averi; brothers and sisters, Alma Rigby, Don Thomason, Tona Hammersmith, and Alicefaye Packer.

She was preceded in death by her son, Brett Greer; brothers, Dale and Harold Thomason; and sisters, Selma Lebber and Janice VanTrease.

Joan was a hair stylist at Shampoo II for many years. She enjoyed hiking, especially in the Tennessee mountains, drawing and writing poetry. Joan also enjoyed traveling to California and working in her flower garden. She was an animal lover, having numerous pets over the years.

Her funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Online condolences can be expressed to the family by visiting coldrencrates.com.
