Janet Kay Ward

Janet Kay Ward, a loving mother, daughter, grandma, and sister, passed away surrounded by those she loved Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the young age of 67.

Janet was born July 27, 1957 in Findlay, to Derald "Bud" and Shirley (Winkle) Siferd. She married Jim Ward in November of 1996 and he preceded her in death in 2001. Janet is survived by her loving children, Bryan (Kaylee) Barfell of Findlay, Erica Myers of Findlay and Debra Myers of Bluffton; nine grandchildren; mother, Shirley Siferd of Findlay; and siblings, Nancy Rice of Findlay, Linda Putnam of Carey, Kevin (Cheryl) Siferd of Fairborn and Jennifer (Roscoe) Strader of Van Buren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by father, Derald "Bud" Siferd; her brother, Keith (Christine) Siferd; and brothers-in-law, John Putnam and Perry Rice.

Janet attended McComb High School and later graduated from Findlay College with an associate degree in food services. Janet was a manager for many restaurants in Northwest Ohio and owned and operated the former McComb Lunch for many years. Janet used her love of cooking and baking to make some of the most delicious cookies, especially sugar cookies, pies and potato donuts, something her father truly loved. Janet a green thumb, she loved working in her garden. Janet also enjoyed spending her summers camping, in her later years she enjoyed being at Pleasant View Campgrounds in Van Buren. More than anything, Janet's true love was for her family. She was a caring and loving person, who could show an ornery and sassy side to her. Her memory will live on in the lives of those she came to know.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2025, at Findlay First Church of the Nazarene, 2501 Broad Ave, Findlay, Ohio 45840. Janet's Celebration of Life Service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at the church with the Rev. Michael Legg officiating. Burial will be at McComb Union Cemetery.
