James Robert "Jim" Barr Sr.

James Robert "Jim" Barr Sr., 92, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 24, 2023.

Jim was born Oct. 30, 1930, in Milford Center. He was raised by his beloved mother, Lila Barr. In 1950, he married the love of his life, Audrey Anne Brink, and together, they wrote a love story that went on for 62 years. Jim proudly served his country as an Airman First Class in U.S. Air Force. He was Active Duty during the Korean War and served as a cryptographer.

After his military service, Jim embarked on a distinguished 44-year career at General Motors Columbus Plant. He hired in as a journeyman in skilled trades and became an excellent tool and diemaker. Additionally, he served in the union where he rose to a high-ranking leadership role. He never lost an election, and was well-respected by rank and file as well as the highest levels of management.

Jim will be deeply missed. He will be remembered always as a devoted husband and dedicated father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He is survived by four children, Deborah Norris, Donna Heron, James (Carole) Barr, and Bradley (Amy) Barr; and many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation for family and friends will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, July 2, 2023, at RADER-MCDONALD-TIDD FUNERALHOME, 1355 West Main Street, West Jefferson, Ohio, 43162, 614-879-9222. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 3, 2023, at St. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, 9350 High Free Pike, West Jefferson, with Father Dwayne McNew as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne, Ohio.
