Jack Shingler Obituary

Jack V. Shingler

Jack V. Shingler, 90, of Findlay, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.

He was born March 19, 1934, in East Liverpool, Ohio, to Paul Carson and Rachel (Rigby) Shingler. Jack married his first wife, June Johnston, and she preceded him in death in 2005. Jack married Judy Ervin on Nov. 28, 2020, and she survives in Findlay.

In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by his children, Sherry (Kathy Wilkes-Shingler) Shingler and Tim (Lisa) Ervin; grandchildren, Adam (Mavis) Shingler, Cameron Shingler, Alex (Shelby) Ervin, Tessa Ervin, Kylee (Sien) Chen, Cole (Jessica) Ervin, and Beth (Kent) Hargreaves; great-grandchildren, Kira Shingler, Lily Ervin, Remington Chen, and Charleston Chen; and daughter-in-law, Francine Shingler.

He was preceded in death by his sons, Jeffrey Shingler and Jeffrey Ervin; and sisters, Maxine (Tom) Oddo and Martha (Dick) Stevenson.

Jack grew up in East Liverpool. He served as the drum major in his high school's boy's band. Following school, he proudly served in U.S. Marine Corps. He retired from Marathon Oil Company as an aviation parts distributor in 1986. After retirement, Jack opened his side business, Jack's Lawnmower and Snow Blower Shop, in Findlay, retiring fully in 2019. Jack was a Findlay Youth Baseball coach, softball coach, and wrestling referee. Jack loved trains and could be found golfing as often as possible. He was a member of American Legion Post #3. To Jack, everything was a competition, earning points, something his family remembers fondly.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2024, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 W. Sandusky Street, Findlay, Ohio, 45840. Jack's funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at the funeral home with Marianne Higley officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay.
