Gregory Pope Obituary

Gregory Pope

Gregory B. Pope, 72, of Findlay, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023, after months of valiantly fighting multiple health battles.

Greg leaves to cherish his memory his brothers, Tony Pope and Ted Pope; sister, Cindy (Gary) Willenborg; several nieces and nephews and their children; and his companion service dog.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents, George and Betty Pope; beloved stepmother, Cleda; sister, Judy (Pope) Monroe; brother-in-law, Gene Monroe; and sister-in-law, Marilyn (Ted) Pope.

Greg graduated from Sullivan High School and had some college education, but he was most proud of his years serving in U.S. Marines (Semper Fi!) both in the United States and overseas. He also served his community by volunteering with Marine Corps League, Toys For Tots, and related groups and was retired from many years of employment at the Findlay Lowe's store. Greg will be remembered by all who knew him for making people laugh, speaking his mind, and for his great love of his country, family, and his dogs.

The family wishes to thank fifth-floor nursing staff at Blanchard Valley Hospital for their attentive and compassionate care, as well as Bridge Hospice, 50North, and Hanco EMTs. A very special thank you to faithful friends, Randy and Jennifer Lawless, and his anonymous health advocate and "business manager."

In lieu of a funeral, a private celebration of life will be at a later date with interment in Whitehouse.

Any donations may be made to Toys For Tots or Veteran Companion Animal Services, Delaware, Ohio.
