Geraldine "Gerri" Kelley
Geraldine "Gerri" Kelley, 82, of Findlay, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2023.
Gerri was born Nov. 7, 1940, in Morrow County, to Terry and Iras (Mosher) Long. She married the love of her life, James Kelley, on Nov. 27, 1958, at St. Marks United Methodist Church, and he preceded her in death Sept. 18, 2019.
Gerri is survived by her children, Chris (Dan) Kear of Findlay, Cindy (Craig) Reese of Irmo, South Carolina, Ginny (Dave) Schwertner of Ottawa, Ohio, and Jim (Stacy) Kelley of Savannah, Georgia; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and brother, John Long.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Roger D. Long.
Gerri was a 1958 graduate of Findlay High School. She worked as a dental assistant after graduating from high school. She was a member of Salem Cass United Methodist Church, Findlay, where she was a member of the Needles for God and a Sunday School teacher. Gerri enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and creating homemade greeting cards. She volunteered at City Mission, Blanchard Valley Hospital, and Salvation Army. Gerri was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. During her last couple of years, Gerri lived at Brookdale Assisted Living, where she was a Welcome Ambassador to those who had recently moved into Brookdale. Brookdale was a place she truly loved living. Most importantly, Gerri loved her family, especially her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, July 17, 2023, at HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME, 201 Osborn Ave., Findlay, Ohio, 45840. Gerri's celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at the funeral home with her grandson, Pastor Jim Reese, officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay. Per the family's request, casual attire would be preferred.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be gifted in Gerri's honor to Salem Cass United Methodist Church, 4699 CR 236, Findlay, or Parkinson's Foundation, 2800 Corporate Exchange Dr. Suite 360, Columbus, Ohio, 43231.
The family would like to send their deepest gratitude to Brookdale Assisted Living for the compassionate care they showed Gerri and to thank the fantastic nursing staff in the ICU that cared for her.
