George T. Stallard
George Thomas Stallard, 82, of Findlay, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at 11:14 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Bridge Hospice, surrounded by his family after a brief battle with cancer. He was born March 2, 1943, in Meadville, Pennsylvania, to the late George Hershell and Helen Marian (Dornhoefer) Stallard. He married Jonn (Jonni) Meri Leeth on February 8, 1964, and she preceded him in death.
George is survived by his son, John (Lisa) Stallard of McComb; and daughter, Sherri (Michael) Leary of Mount Cory.
In addition to his wife Jonni, George was preceded in death by their daughter, Deborah Stallard; his sister, Donna Murling Kohli; and brothers-in-law, Thomas Leeth and Bradford Leeth.
George is also survived by sisters-in-law, Lu (David) Ruffing of Bellevue, Marcia Leeth of Fremont, and Mary Leeth of Mansfield; brother-in-law Craig (Susan) of Dunkirk; grandchildren, Brandon (Jessica) Stallard, Stephen Stallard, Bryan Stallard, Rachael (Matthew) Miller, Kayla Chapman, Bryce Stallard, Jacob Leary, and JT Stallard; and several great-grandchildren.
George was a diesel mechanic and wrecker operator for most of his adult life. He worked in the pits for stock car racing back in the day. After retiring, he drove part-time for HATS where he enjoyed getting to know the various individuals he chauffeured around the area. He and Jonni were avid readers and passed that love to their youngest daughter. George enjoyed bowling, fishing, and camping, especially with his in-laws and church family. George was a founding member of Bethel Baptist Church in North Baltimore, serving as a deacon and church treasurer for over 20 years.
George was known for his dry wit, unique sense of humor, and love of food. Being small of stature, his appetite rivaled that of men three times his size. He was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved watching football (especially with a meal). George enjoyed Garfield Comics (lasagna, go figure) and was a true Trekkie. Although not college-educated, George was extremely intelligent and rarely missed an episode of Jeopardy, usually knowing most of the answers.
Following a stroke in 2022, George resided at Briar Hill Nursing Home in North Baltimore. He will be remembered as a friend to all, always willing to lend a hand and give the shirt off his back if it was needed.
A Celebration of Life will be for family and friends at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Gospel Fellowship Church, 5124 CR 37, Rawson. Family will receive visitors for 30 minutes prior. A meal will follow directly after the service in the fellowship hall of the church. Private burial will be at Knollcrest cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bridge Home Health and Hospice. COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME is assisting with arrangements.
