Frederick Smith Obituary

Frederick Smith

Frederick Dunbar Smith (85), of Findlay, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 9, 2025. Fred was born May 2, 1940. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marsha Ellen, sister, Martha Frye; and brother, Douglas Smith.

Fred leaves behind his brother, David Smith; as well as his children, Lisa Myers, Shivaun Frere, Erin Cupp, Megan Ricker, and Kevin Smith. He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren; his in-laws; and many friends.

Fred retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in 1986 and again from Cooper Tire in 2005. He was a lifelong member of The United Methodist Church of Cuyahoga Falls, as well as St. Paul's Church in Findlay.

Throughout his years, he loved playing the piano; singing in the church choir with his wife, golfing with his sons-in-law, nephews and brothers-in-law, taking beach vacations with the entire family (immediate and extended); and spending precious time just talking with his daughters and/or grandchildren about life in general. It was Fred's belief that family was more valuable than any riches he could attain.

Fred will be cremated at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home in Findlay. There will be no services. The family is planning a Celebration of Life in the near future, time and place to be determined.

I will miss hanging out with Fred on his deck laughing and playing That's What She Said. It was always a good time with lots of laughter. Rest easy Fred, you will be missed
