Francis Jay "Pops" Walters

Francis Jay Walters, 79, of Findlay, passed away, Sunday, March 31, 2024, at University of Michigan Hospital. Pops, we got ya, Go Blue!

Francis, affectionately known as "Pops," was born June 18, 1944, in Bowling Green, to Henry and Luella (Bair) Walters. He attended Bowling Green and Cygnet (Elmwood) schools and enlisted in U.S. Army, where he served one tour in Germany. Pops spent the majority of his employment at Phillips Display Components, retiring in 2002 after 32 years of service.

After retirement, Pops enjoyed watching television, his coffee, "smokes," and "damn good" food. He was known as being thrifty, a true bargain hunter, and comedic genius with a unique sense of humor.

He is survived by his former spouse, Patti (Shilling) Walters; their three children, Jayson (Karrie) Walters, Ryan (Nicole) Walters, and JayLynn (Jared) Reiter; grandchildren he was proud of, Brandon (Abby), Braxton, Morgan, Hayden, Zander, Jackson, Ryson, and Lincoln; siblings, Joy Ann (Ernest) McMahan, Betty (AB) Gentry, and Marilynn Skaya; and half-siblings, Diana and Henry.

Francis was preceded in death by his parents; younger brother, Daniel (MaryAnn) Walters; and grandson, Bailey Walters.

The family would like to thank the staff at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay, for the care of Pops. He appreciated the banter of teasing and joking with many of the nurses.

Per his request, there will be no services.

Cremation services will be provided by Coldren-Crates Funeral Home.
