Ethel Mae (Thomas) Williams-Alexander

Ethel Mae (Thomas) Williams-Alexander transitioned peacefully to her heavenly home Tuesday, January 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Fostoria November 12, 1928, Ethel was the second of three children to Edward and Ethel Thomas. Her childhood was spent living between Fostoria and New Orleans, Louisiana (NOLA). Ultimately graduating as valedictorian from L.B. Landry High School (NOLA) in 1945.

In New Orleans, Ethel met and married Joseph (Joe) Williams Jr. They later moved to Fostoria, where their union was blessed with five children.

Ethel proudly worked for over 30 years at General Electric Company in Tiffin, where she earned a place in the Quarter Century Club for her 25 years of service. She was a zealous advocate for employee rights, serving as a Union Steward and achieving regional status. Ethel was a lifetime member of the N.A.A.C.P.

Ethel is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Ethel Thomas; her husbands, Joseph Williams Jr. and Frank Alexander; her siblings, Edward Thomas and Doris Randell; and her daughter, Sharyn Williams Johnson (Bill). She leaves behind her three sons, Malcolm (Madline), Bruce (Lois), and Orlando Williams; her daughter, Vanessa Williams and her loving niece Denyse Reeves.

Ethel Mae Williams-Alexander will be remembered not only for her unwavering faith and dedication to family but also for her love of community service.

Celebration of life will be Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Bethel Baptist Church, 501 E. Jackson St., Fostoria. Family hour will be from 10-11 a.m., with services immediately following. Interment will be at Fostoria Fountain Cemetery.

The family is asking that instead of sending flowers, that donations be given to Bethel Baptist Church.

We have known Ethel Mae for over 70 years. She was a great friend, a generous and supportive person who loved her family. We appreciate the opportunity to have known her. My wife and I send our sincere condolences to her family. May God bless you all.
