Emily Cronenwett

Emily J. Cronenwett, 96, loving wife of Gene W. Cronenwett, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023, at her residence in South Carolina.

Emily was born Feb. 18, 1927, in Bellaire, the daughter of Mack Snively and Martha Rodewig Snively. She graduated from Capital University.

Emily was very loving and kind, a great musician and storyteller, and tireless children's choir director and string teacher. She taught high school strings in Marietta and retired from Arcadia Elementary School, where she taught music for 22 years. She was a Sunday school teacher, Stitch and Sew quilter, UM Women's President, and played viola with the UF Orchestra. At Capital University, she toured and sang with the Chapel Choir in Columbus. She was the best of all of us, a loving wife and wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.

Emily's survivors include two sons, Dan (Teri) Cronenwett of Herriman, Utah, and Drew (Janell) Cronenwett of Centerville; daughter, Celia (Harry) Stockton of Pickens, South Carolina; grandchildren, Ruthe (Jesse) Robles, David (Kate) Cronenwett, Emily (Phil) Keeling, Winston Cronenwett, Nathan Stockton, Joseph Stockton, and Janae Cronenwett; and great-grandchildren, Dominic, Aurora, Alexandra, Lauren Joy, and Graham.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Richard Snivley.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2024, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Emily's memorial service will be 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. A private burial service will follow at Knollcrest Cemetery near Arcadia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Emily's honor may be made to College First Church of God, 1100 N. Main St., Findlay, Ohio, 45840.
