Elizabeth Slough Obituary

Elizabeth Betty Slough

Elizabeth "Betty" Slough, 83, of Findlay, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022, at Bridge Hospice Care Center. She was born Dec. 15, 1938, in Findlay, to the late Robert and Elizabeth (Priddy) Gore. Betty married William Lee Slough and he preceded her in death June 25, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her elder sister, Frances (Gore) Marks.

Betty is survived by her son, Matthew Slough; daughter-in-law, Merrie Joy (Sol) Slough of Manila, Philippines; twin sister, Merry (Gore) Valentin of South Carolina; four grandchildren, Bryan Slough, Justine Slough, Ashley Slough, and Luke Slough; and one great-grandchild, Gavin Slough.

Betty attended Miami of Ohio University and received her Bachelor's degree in Education. Betty began her career teaching, but found her real passion when she became Head Juvenile Probation Officer and Magistrate of Hancock County for better than 30 years. Betty's other passion was reading and she was a voracious reader at that. Betty was a big supporter of Findlay-Hancock County Public Library.

She will be lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and countless at-risk youths (now adults) who she has helped and guided over her many years of service.

Betty was a very private person and at her request, there will be no public funeral or visitation.

Memorials may be made in her memory to Findlay-Hancock County Public Library, 206 Broadway, Findlay, Ohio, 45840.

Online condolences may be made at www.kirkpatrickbehnke.com.

wonderful college memories

Bill De Vore

September 29, 2022

My deepest sympathies and prayers go out to Betty's family during this time. My thoughts and prayers also for the loss of Bill Slough in 2015. I didn´t know he had passed. My memories go back to our childhood, especially on many Sunday mornings spent attending Sunday morning services in the balcony of St. Paul's church with Bill. Reading Betty's obit brought back many memories of long forgotten friends and of Findlay, Ohio, where my roots remain deeply inbedded.
