Elgene Neiswander Obituary
Elgene LaDonna Neiswander, 98, of Arlington, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 2, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born at home in Dunkirk, October 21, 1926, to James and Sevilla (Beach) Nelson. She married John Pore and he preceded her in death. Elgene then married Claude Neiswander and he also preceded her in death. Surviving are two sons, Jerry (Vickie) Pore of Arlington and Brad Pore of rural Forest; a sister, Bonnie Durkin of Dunkirk; stepdaughter-in-law, Marilyn Neiswander; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and19 great-great-grandchildren. Elgene was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Roberta (John) Peterson and Sharon (Thomas) Clymer; four brothers, Bob, Dick, Francis, and Billy Dean Nelson; a sister, Mary Jo Craig; and a stepson, Ron Neiswander.
Elgen worked for 38 years at Blanchard Valley Hospital in the cafeteria where she retired at the age of 88. She was a life-long member of Bethel Church of Christ, Ada. She loved the Lord and lived her life honoring and glorifying him. Elgene also loved hosting family picnics and holidays. She loved trips to Amish Country, Great Smoky Mountains, and many trips with a group from her church.
Funeral service will begin at noon Friday, June 6, 2025, at Bethel Church of Christ, 4014 County Road 304, Ada, Ohio 45810, where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. Friday until time of service. Burial will follow at Eagle Creek Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff and residents at Taylor Place for all the love they showed her while she was living there. Thank you to Mike Meeker for his support over the years, and a special Thank You to Bridge Home Health and Hospice for keeping her comfortable. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Crates Funeral Home, Arlington.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in memory of Elgene to Bridge Home Health and Hospice.
