Earnest Davis Obituary

Earnest J. Davis

Earnest "Ernie" J. Davis, of Findlay, passed away peacefully Saturday Nov. 16, 2024, at Birchaven Village. Ernie was born Sept. 20, 1947, to Boyd and Gladys Faye (Layne) Davis. They both preceded him in death. He married the love of his life, Bev Davis, June 18, 1966, enjoying 58 years together and she survives.

Also, surviving are children, Jay (Sandy) Davis, Valerie (Shane) Swisher and Theresa (Tony) Harvey; grandchildren, Amanda (Wayne) Thompson, Chris (Casey) Davis, Amber Davis, Cody (Tiffany) Patterson, Corey (Patience) Swisher, Dylan Swisher, Andrew Swisher and Blake Swisher; great-grandchildren, Abby Thompson, Andrea Lewis, Maverick Patterson, Amethyst Thompson, Paxton Coslett, Brycen Geyer-Speer, Damon Patterson and Luna Patterson; siblings, Wanda (Jim) Nickelson, Glenna (Buster) Niederkohr, Nola (Richard) Brown and Peggy (Phil) Ehrhart; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by siblings, Boyd, Geneva, Eva Jo, Adah, Adron, and Glen.

Ernie loved spending time with family and impacted so many lives. He always had a story to tell and an ear to listen. He worked for Gosche-Putnam Masonry for over 20 years, making many friendships along the way. After retiring, you could always find him still lending a hand or two to help someone with a project. Ernie enjoyed hunting, fishing and using his smoker. He was most known for his pork butts or jerky. He also had a love for NASCAR, and his favorite drivers were Dale Earnhardt Sr., and Dale Jr. Ernie himself was also a racer who drag-raced in the IHRA and also had a street car he built from the ground up. Ernie was someone you could call if you needed advice on anything.

Visitation will be from 10-12 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2024, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 West Sandusky St., Findlay, Ohio. A Celebration of Life service, led by Jim Klausing, will follow visitation at 12 p.m. The family requests those attending to please wear casual clothes, as that's what Ernie would've wanted.
