E. Jean Halstead

E. Jean Halstead, 88, of McComb, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2023.

Jean was born July 20, 1934, in Elkview, West Virginia, to the late Rosco and Cumi Payne. She married Clarence Halstead on July 3, 1956, and he preceded her in death Nov. 9, 1992.

Jean raised seven sons, Keith (Joni) Halstead, the late Jay (Lana) Halstead, Wayne (Cheri) Halstead, the late Scott Halstead, Stephen (Rai) Halstead, Chris Halstead, and Lynn Halstead; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Patricia, Barb, Gary, and O'Dell.

She was also preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.

Jean was a member of McComb Church of Christ. After raising her children, Jean entered the work force where she worked at Hancock County Home. Subsequently, she then worked for Home Instead Senior Care for nearly 11 years, where she was recognized as caregiver of the year for entire Midwest region of the United States in 2010 becoming one of six regional caregivers nominated for Home Instead Caregiver of the year nationwide. Jean enjoyed gardening, working in her yard, and spending time at the flea markets. Jean was a socialite who enjoyed visiting and being visited by her many friends.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2023, and 10-11 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Hanneman Funeral Home, 370 Park Dr S., McComb, Ohio, 45858. Jean's celebration of life will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at McComb Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
