Dean Allen Bowser
After a long-fought battle with Lymphoma, Dean Bowser (Deano), 63, was surrounded by his family at The James when he was welcomed into the presence of Jesus Sunday, January 4, 2026. While this disease stole so much from him, it did not take his genuine love for people nor his deep faith in his loving Savior.
Dean was born February 5, 1962, in
Bluffton, Ohio, to the late Arthur and Donnalou (Bracy) Bowser. He grew up in Benton Ridge with his parents and six siblings, and graduated from Liberty Benton Schools, where he was active in football, wrestling, and baseball. He would tell anyone who would listen about his "glory days," including stats and records from his games.
In 1981, he met the love of his life, Amy Bosse. On April 26, 1986, the couple got married at First Lutheran Church in Findlay. They shared 39 years of marriage together. Their relationship was filled with laughter, love, and continuous hand-holding. Dean and Amy have three children, Brooke (Doug) Steiner, Luke (Emily) Bowser, and Taylor Bowser. They also have eight grandchildren, Rue, Taylor, Bo, Josie, Lucy, Darby, Evie, and Cobie.
Dean worked as an auto paint salesman. He was great at what he did because he truly enjoyed caring for people. He made sure people felt valued. In fact, if you knew Deano, you were probably greeted with a warm hug and a kiss. He believed every person mattered and would often express his gratitude and appreciation. Deano never left anything unsaid. He made sure people knew how much they meant to him. He was a simple man, but knew the important things in life were faith, family, and friends. He also believed in integrity, hard work, and serving others. His sense of humor, quick wit, ornery nature, and love of laughter were enjoyed by many.
Deano loved to spend time with friends and family. He was an involved dad and grandpa, and loved watching the grandkids in their activities. You would often find him on the golf course with his buddies or tinkering in the garage with friends. Saturdays were also very special, because he enjoyed quality time with his wife, Amy.
At a young age, Dean sought to learn more about Jesus. As a child, he would ride his bike to church to hear what was being taught. This call was certainly a blessing from the Lord. In high school, Deano accepted Christ into his heart while praying with a Campus Life Mentor.
Dean and Amy were active members of their church, First Lutheran, where he served as an usher. He loved his Sunday school class and church family.
Deano would say he was beyond blessed with his marriage, family, friends who felt like family, and his love for Jesus. He knew that he would be good, even if he did not win the battle with cancer, because of his certainty in Christ. He only worried about his beloved Amy, kids, and grandkids. He will be deeply missed by so many. Deano was one of a kind!
Dean was preceded in death by his brothers, Arthur Bowser Jr. and Paul Bowser.
He is survived by two brothers, James Bowser and John Bowser. He is also survived by his two sisters, Terry Putman and Arlene Bowser.
