Dorothy Boyd Obituary

Dorothy "Dot" Ellen (Wyans) Boyd

Dorothy "Dot" Ellen (Wyans) Boyd of Rawson, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, July 23, 2025.

She was born in Fostoria, October 24, 1931, to Arminda (Taylor) Wyans and Benjamin Wyans. She was 93 years and 8 months old at the time of her death. Dorothy would say she far outlived her personal expectations for longevity.

Dorothy married William Wesley Boyd, October 23, 1950. They would both admit it was the best decision they ever made. They were married 73 wonderful years. There wasn't much they could not accomplish when they were together. They lived for each other.

She has two daughters, Jean Alane Boyd, Rawson and Judy Anne Boyd, Alvada. She also has five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Wesley Boyd; an infant twin daughter, June Elaine Boyd; her mother, Arminda Taylor Wyans; her father, Benjamin J. Wyans; a brother, Charles Wyans; and four sisters, Jeannette Mulholland, JoAnne Mulholland, Betty Watkins, and Shirley Wyans.

Dorothy was a wife and mother first and foremost. Her husband and children came first before anything else. Dorothy loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all her heart. She worked at Honeywell in Fostoria for much of her career, and she was a member of the Union at Honeywell until the time of her death. Dorothy was also a farmer. She never shied away from a hard day's work. She believed that working hard for what she wanted out of life was an intrinsic value. She worked tirelessly to instill those same values in her children. She was a strong woman of many talents and interests.

Dorothy was an avid outdoorswoman and collector. She had a fascination with angels, and she collected paintings and figurines reflecting the angels among us. She enjoyed spending time with her family, listening to country music, playing her favorite dice game, and listening to her husband tell wild stories and hilarious jokes. In her later years, she focused on her and her husband's health apart from the daily dose of ice cream before bedtime. Dorothy will be missed by her family and friends.

Funeral service was private Friday, August 1, 2025, at HOENING & SON FUNERAL HOME, 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, Ohio 44830, with Pastor Mike Holcomb presiding. Graveside service followed at Fostoria Fountain Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests you send donations to St. Jude’s Children's Research Foundation in care of the funeral home.

The family would like to give thanks to BVH Palliative Care and BVH Hospice, who worked alongside them to fulfill her final wishes and remain at home.
