Dixie Stump Obituary

Dixie Ann Stump

Dixie A. Stump, 80, of Findlay, passed away Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023, with her daughter and son by her side.

Dixie was born Dec. 2, 1942, to Richard and Ruth (Ridge) Luke. She married David Stump on Feb. 22, 1964, and he preceded her in death Sept. 27, 2018.

She leaves behind her daughter, Natalie (Mike) Beck of Strongsville; son, Michael (Jennifer) Stump of Findlay; sister, Jane (Paul) Wilch of Jenera; grandchildren, Gregory (Kaylen) Manley, Elaina (Ely) Verhoff, Lucas Stump, and Noah Stump; and great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Avery Manley, Koda Verhoff and his soon to be born sister all who she adored and loved to spend time with.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Andrea Lyn; and brother, Michael Luke.

Dixie worked for National Lime and Stone before raising her family. When she returned to work outside of her home, she took a position as an Executive Assistant with The Findlay Publishing Company where she worked for many years before retiring. Dixie stayed busy after her retirement by working part time at Hancock Historical Museum, which she enjoyed. She also worked at Hancock County Board of Elections continuing the work she had done with her husband before his passing, setting voting machines and helping on election days. Dixie enjoyed antique and thrift store shopping and filled her home with many of her finds which were obtained during her once-a-month outings with her long-time friends. She also enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, and making baby blankets for all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Dixie was a member of Van Buren Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir and was treasurer for the women's association.

The family would like to thank the Bridge Hospice care team for their support during the few days that they had Dixie in their care.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, until the time of Dixie's memorial service at 3 p.m. at Van Buren Presbyterian Church, 207 West Market Street, Van Buren, Ohio, 45889.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorials be made in Dixie's honor to the church.

I remember so many good times with Dixie and Dave and also the sad time when her infant daughter passed away. Blessings to you Dixie and to your lovely family.

So sorry to hear of Dixie´s passing. I knew her through the Hemingers at The Courier. She was talented and kind and I just really admired her. I will never forget her wonderful Cheese spread she so generously shared each Christmas (in a peanut butter jar!) She was very special to me.

I had the pleasure of meeting Dixie at church not too long ago. While I didn't have a chance to know her well, she was always so welcoming to me and I loved to hear her sing. No doubt she's singing with the angels. My condolences to the family.
