Diana Rose Boutwell

Diana R. Boutwell, a loving wife, mother, grandma and sister passed away Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024 in the comfort of her own home at the age of 81.

Diana was born in Elyria, on Christmas Eve (December 24) in 1942 to the late William and Marjorie (Bailey) Kennedy. Diana was set up by her sisters on a date with a boy from youth group at church, that gentleman was Ed Boutwell. They were married on March 21, 1964 and he survives in Carey after 60 wonderful years of marriage.

Diana was the proud mother of three wonderful children, Rob (Janeen) Boutwell, Dawn (Tim) Pressler and Olivia Boutwell. She is also survived by two grandchildren whom she adored, Kennedy Pressler and Nicole Boutwell; and her sister, Shelia Kennedy.

She was preceded in death by two of her sisters, Roberta Klingel and Sue Osborne.

Diana was a 1960 graduate of Marion Harding High School and then enrolled in Bliss Business College where she received her Secretarial Certificate. Diana was a devote Christian, she enjoyed reading the Bible and was very active in her church, Ridge Chapel Church of Nazarene. She was a Sunday School teacher, sang in the choir and also served various roles including treasurer and secretary until she retired in 2000 due the onset of Parkinsons' Disease. Diana had a heart of gold, she was very welcoming to all those she came in contact with. She was very quiet but then could be witty and offer great forms of sarcasm. She would tell her family and friends that "Jesus does love you but I'm his favorite." Diana enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and exercising her mind.

Visitation for Diana will be 4-7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2024, at Stombaugh-Batton & Snyder Funeral Home, Carey. Additional visitation will be 9 a.m. until the time of her Celebration of Life Service at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024, at Ridge Chapel Church of the Nazarene, 370 State Route 568, Carey. Interment will follow in the Wharton-Richland Cemetery.
