Delmar L. Nichols

Delmar L. Nichols, 87, of Findlay, peacefully passed away at Birchaven Village Friday, January 30, 2026. Born in Lima, Ohio, to Orrin and Norma (Jenkins) Nichols, Del built a life filled with love, service and adventure. He married his devoted wife, Marilyn Reichenbach, in 1959; she lovingly survives him in Findlay.

He is remembered by his son, Jeff (Cathy) Nichols of Granville; grandchildren, Alexandra (Kyle) Niro of Columbus and Thomas (Jing) Nichols of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and great-granddaughter, Emmeline Nichols. He is also survived by his brothers, Dwight (Jeanie) Nichols of Bluffton and Mike (Marlene) Nichols of Cairo.

A lifelong learner and athlete, Del earned degrees from Bluffton College and Findlay College and completed his master's work at Central Michigan University. His outstanding achievements in football and track earned him a place in the Bluffton College Athletic Hall of Fame.

Del's entire career was in education, teaching high school English while coaching football, wrestling, and track at Lakota, Liberty-Benton, Ottawa-Glandorf, Findlay, and Fostoria high schools.

Del's adventurous spirit shone in his love of biking and motorcycling; he served as Captain of Ohio Wheelmen Antique Bicycle Club and was an active member of Hancock County Handlebars. He and Marilyn shared a lifelong love of travel, from explorations across the U.S. and abroad to forty winters spent together in Hawaii.

Burial will be at noon Monday, February 16, 2026, at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, with Pastor Dan Young officiating. A celebration of life will be follow at 1 p.m. at The Fern Café.
