David Cusac Obituary

David A. Cusac

David Arthur Cusac, 83, of Findlay, passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023, in the comfort of his home.

He was born Sept. 17, 1939, in Putnam County, to John and Agnes (Myers) Cusac. Dave married Wanda Firestine on June 9, 1984, at St. Mark's United Methodist Church.

A 1957 graduate of Leipsic High School, Dave played football, ran track, and belonged to Future Farmers' Association. As a youth, he was in 4-H for six years in the Van Buren Workers. Upon graduation, Dave proudly served his country in U.S. Navy from 1957-1963. He served aboard the ship USS Mississinewa AO 144 and was stationed in Naples, Italy.

Dave worked at Dow Chemical, retiring in 1989 after 28 years of service. He was also a retired farmer from Blanchard Township, raising beef cattle. He was the owner of D&W Storage Facilities and after retirement, was employed by Professional Appraisal Services. He drove sprint race cars for 10 years from 1960-1970. He was a Junior Achievement advisor for four years. Dave was a life-long Red Cross blood donor, donating 13 gallons of blood. He served on Republican Central Committee for years and was a member of National Rifle Association. Dave was also a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church. He enjoyed Civil War history, watching Ohio State football and NASCAR and was a dog lover. He also enjoyed traveling with Wanda to Ireland, Beijing, China, Athens, Greece, and Civil War battlefields in the United States. Dave received the Pioneer of Hancock County Award for proving a descendant living in Hancock County in 1845, with ancestor Daniel Cusac.

Dave is survived by his wife, Wanda; siblings, Bernadine Kline of Ottawa and Don (Judy) Cusac of Pandora.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John Cusac; and sister, Ramona Newell of McComb.

The family would like to thank Bridge Home Health and Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Dave.
